Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrometallurgical Process Engineer to join our specialized technical team in Gabès. This role is critical to our production efficiency and the optimization of chemical extraction processes used in mineral refining. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring complex chemical processes that ensure maximum recovery rates and product purity. This position requires a deep understanding of liquid-liquid extraction, leaching, and precipitation technologies. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize hydrometallurgical flowsheets to improve mineral recovery and reduce reagent consumption.
- Monitor real-time process data to identify deviations and implement corrective actions in the leaching and purification stages.
- Conduct pilot-scale testing to validate new chemical extraction methodologies before full-scale implementation.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department to ensure all chemical processing equipment operates at peak efficiency.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for chemical handling and process safety.
- Perform mass and energy balance calculations to optimize the overall plant efficiency.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in chemical process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus or HYSYS).
- In-depth knowledge of solvent extraction and ion exchange technologies.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex metallurgical data sets.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities in a high-pressure industrial setting.
- Effective communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
Education
A Master’s degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. Specialized training in hydrometallurgy or extractive metallurgy is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in a large-scale chemical or metallurgical processing plant. Proven experience in optimizing leaching processes and managing chemical reagent inventories is essential for success in this role.
Salary
