Job Overview
The Mining Operations Safety Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safety programs across all mining sites in Gafsa. Reporting directly to the Head of Safety & Compliance, you will collaborate with engineering, production, and environmental teams to identify hazards, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with national and international safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses for all mining operations, including underground and surface activities.
- Develop, update, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans in line with Tunisian labor law and ISO 45001 standards.
- Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
- Provide safety training and coaching to supervisors, operators, and contractors, ensuring a culture of proactive risk management.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate safety considerations into equipment design, maintenance schedules, and process improvements.
- Monitor and report safety performance metrics, preparing detailed dashboards for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Coordinate with external auditors, government inspectors, and industry associations to maintain compliance and best‑practice alignment.

- In‑depth knowledge of mining safety regulations, occupational health standards, and environmental protection guidelines.
- Proficiency in risk assessment tools, incident investigation software, and safety management systems.

Education
