Job Overview

The Senior Mine Geologist will lead geological investigations for new and existing mining projects in the Gabès region, ensuring accurate resource estimation and compliance with international standards. Reporting directly to the Head of Exploration, the incumbent will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design drilling programs, interpret geophysical data, and produce detailed geological models. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and supervise drilling campaigns, core logging, and sample collection to delineate ore bodies.
  • Develop 3D geological models using software such as Leapfrog, Surpac, or similar tools.
  • Conduct mineralogical and geochemical analyses to assess ore quality and economic viability.
  • Prepare technical reports, resource statements, and feasibility study inputs in line with JORC or NI 43-101 standards.
  • Coordinate with mining engineers, environmental specialists, and health & safety teams to integrate geological data into mine planning.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure all activities comply with Tunisian mining legislation.
  • Mentor junior geologists and field staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and safety.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, Surpac, Micromine).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geological data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Project management capabilities, including budgeting and timeline adherence.
  • Fluency in French and English; Arabic is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work in remote field environments and adapt to challenging conditions.

Education

A Master’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Mining Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university is required. Specialized training or certifications in mineral resource estimation are highly desirable.

Experience

Salary
