Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Communications Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Gafsa. This role is central to designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced satellite communication systems for government and commercial clients. The successful candidate will work on the full lifecycle of satellite projects, from initial concept and design through to integration, testing, and operational support. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop system architectures for satellite communication networks, including ground segment and space segment interfaces.
- Perform technical analysis, modeling, and simulation of satellite link budgets and system performance under various operational conditions.
- Lead the integration and testing of satellite communication hardware and software components.
- Provide technical expertise during project phases, ensuring compliance with international standards and customer requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and develop innovative solutions to enhance performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, RF engineers, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and operational manuals.
- Support proposal development by contributing technical content and effort estimations for new business opportunities.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of satellite communication principles, protocols (DVB-S2, SCPC), and modulation techniques.
- Proficiency in system engineering tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or STK for modeling and simulation.
- Strong understanding of RF engineering, antenna theory, and wave propagation.
- Experience with satellite ground station equipment and network management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills for complex system design.
- Project management capabilities with a focus on delivering results within schedule and budget.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with technical teams and international stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal, is essential for this role.
Education
A Master’s degree or higher in Telecommunications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Specialized certifications in satellite communications or project management (e.g., PMP) are considered a significant advantage.
Experience
A minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in satellite communications systems engineering, preferably within the aerospace, defence, or telecommunications sectors. Candidates must have a proven track record in the design and deployment of satellite communication systems, with hands-on experience in system integration and testing. Prior involvement in international projects and familiarity with regulatory frameworks for satellite communications is highly desirable.
