Job Overview
We are seeking a distinguished Chief Gemologist to lead our gemstone evaluation and quality control operations in Tozeur. Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced microscopic and spectroscopic analysis to identify synthetic or treated gemstones.
- Establish and enforce strict grading standards for color, clarity, cut, and carat weight across all precious stones.
- Lead the authentication process for rare minerals sourced from regional and international markets.
- Provide expert valuation reports for high-value acquisitions and inventory audits.
- Collaborate with the global procurement team to identify new, ethically sourced gemstone deposits.
- Train and mentor junior gemologists and quality control technicians on the latest identification techniques.
- Ensure all sourcing activities comply with the Kimberley Process and international ethical trade laws.
- Maintain a state-of-the-art laboratory environment and calibrate precision measuring equipment.
Required Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in using refractometers, polariscopes, and Raman spectroscopy.
- Deep knowledge of the chemical and physical properties of diamonds and colored gemstones.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to detect subtle inclusions and treatments.
- Exceptional leadership capabilities and experience managing a technical team.
- Fluency in English and French, with a working knowledge of Arabic being a significant advantage.
- Proven track record in luxury jewelry valuation and high-end market trends.

Education
The candidate must hold a Graduate Gemologist (GG) certification from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or an equivalent recognized institution. A Master’s degree in Mineralogy, Geology, or a related Earth Science field is highly preferred to support the scientific requirements of the role.
Experience
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in gemology is required, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or chief evaluator role within a luxury jewelry house or a world-renowned gemological laboratory.
