Job Overview
Rio Tinto Tunisia is seeking a dedicated Mining Safety and Risk Management Specialist to lead safety initiatives at its Mahdia operations. This role is critical to ensuring compliance with international safety standards, minimizing operational risks, and promoting a culture of safety across mining activities. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety protocols aligned with international mining regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards in mining operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into project planning and execution.
- Provide training and mentorship to employees on safety procedures and emergency response.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement.

Required Skills
- Proven experience in mining safety or risk management within the mining sector.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, ISO 45001, and other relevant safety standards.

- Proficiency in safety software (e.g., SafetyChain, iAuditor) and data analysis tools.
- Fluency in Arabic and English for effective communication with local and international stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CMIOSH) are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in mining safety roles, preferably in open-pit or underground mining environments. Experience with safety audits, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance is essential.
Salary
120,000 – 180,000 TND annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
