Job Overview
This role focuses on documenting and preserving Tunisia’s rich cultural heritage through digital archiving, field research, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to document archaeological sites, traditional architecture, and intangible cultural practices in Tozeur and surrounding regions.
- Collaborate with local communities to record oral histories, traditional crafts, and indigenous knowledge systems.
- Develop digital archives using GIS, 3D modeling, and photogrammetry tools for heritage preservation.
- Prepare reports, publications, and educational materials to raise awareness about cultural heritage conservation.
- Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions on heritage protection projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in cultural heritage documentation techniques (e.g., laser scanning, drone mapping).
- Strong knowledge of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage framework and international preservation standards.
- Experience with archival software (Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, SketchUp).
- Bilingual fluency in Arabic and French/English.
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Cultural Heritage Management, or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred, with a focus on digital heritage or museum studies.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in cultural heritage documentation, research, or project management.
- Proven track record in fieldwork and community-based heritage initiatives.
Salary
1,200,000 – 1,500,000 TND/Year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
