Job Overview

The Port Operations Manager will oversee all daily activities at MSC’s Sfax terminal, ensuring seamless cargo handling, vessel turnaround, and compliance with international maritime regulations. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, coordinate with customs authorities, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity and reduce turnaround time. Key Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise all port operations, including loading, unloading, storage, and dispatch of containers.
• Coordinate vessel berthing schedules with terminal staff and external stakeholders to minimize vessel idle time.
• Ensure compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards, local regulations, and MSC’s safety protocols.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as crane productivity, dwell time, and equipment utilization, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Lead a team of supervisors, operators, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and manage the operational budget, controlling costs while maintaining service quality.
• Collaborate with customs, port authorities, and logistics partners to streamline documentation and clearance processes.
• Implement digital tools and data analytics to optimize workflow and enhance decision‑making.
• Prepare regular operational reports for senior management and stakeholders.
• Drive sustainability initiatives, including energy‑efficient equipment usage and waste reduction programs.

Required Skills

• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• In‑depth knowledge of port operations, container handling equipment, and maritime logistics.
• Proficiency in ERP and terminal operating systems (e.g., NAVIS, TOS).
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective communication in English and French; Arabic is a plus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Certified Port Professional (CPP) or a Master’s degree are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years of progressive experience in port operations, terminal management, or maritime logistics, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Salary
