Key Responsibilities

  • Design and program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for new and existing production lines.
  • Develop automation architecture that integrates sensors, actuators, and edge computing devices.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and risk assessments for automation projects.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Implement predictive maintenance strategies using data analytics and machine learning.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automation equipment on the shop floor.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and test reports.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IEC 61508, and local safety regulations.
  • Lead training sessions for operators and maintenance personnel on new automation technologies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, Structured Text) and platforms such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or Schneider Electric.
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA/HMI development tools (Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC).
  • Experience with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet).
  • Familiarity with IoT platforms, edge computing, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with excellent analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Project management experience, including scheduling and budgeting.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or Siemens Certified Programmer are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in industrial automation within a manufacturing environment. Experience with large‑scale production facilities, especially in the automotive, aerospace, or energy sectors, will be considered a strong asset.
