Job Overview
The Industrial Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures at BASF’s Kef manufacturing plant. This role ensures compliance with local regulations, international standards such as ISO 45001, and BASF’s internal safety protocols. The officer will conduct risk assessments, lead safety audits, and coordinate emergency response plans to protect employees, assets, and the environment. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and update safety policies, procedures, and work instructions in line with ISO 45001 and Tunisian labor law.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits across all production areas.
- Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness drills, fire safety exercises, and evacuation procedures.
- Provide safety training and coaching to supervisors, operators, and contractors.
- Monitor and report safety performance metrics, including near‑misses, injuries, and compliance status.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and environmental teams to integrate safety into project designs and modifications.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and regulatory filings.
- Serve as the primary liaison with local authorities, inspectors, and external auditors.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through communication campaigns, safety committees, and employee engagement activities.
Required Skills
- In‑depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations in Tunisia and international standards.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities for risk assessment and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication skills for training, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional safety initiatives.
- Fluency in Arabic and French; English proficiency is a plus.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CSP, NEBOSH, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in industrial safety within a manufacturing environment, preferably in chemicals, petrochemicals, or related sectors. Demonstrated experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and leading emergency response teams is essential.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of 3000 to 5000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses and benefits are provided.
