Job Overview
The Operations Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs across BHP’s Nabeul mining site. Reporting to the Site Director, you will collaborate with engineering, operations, and human resources to ensure compliance with Tunisian regulations and international best practices. Your strategic vision will drive zero‑harm initiatives, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training. This position is central to BHP’s commitment to protecting employees, contractors, and the surrounding community while maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety management systems aligned with ISO 45001 and local legislation.
- Conduct regular site risk assessments, hazard identification, and mitigation planning.
- Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Coordinate safety training programs for all personnel, including contractors and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate safety considerations into project design and execution.
- Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Foster a proactive safety culture through communication campaigns, toolbox talks, and employee engagement.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of mining safety regulations in Tunisia and international standards.
- Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams in high‑risk environments.
- Strong analytical skills for risk assessment and incident data analysis.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities in both Arabic and English.
- Experience with safety management software and digital reporting tools.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or NEBOSH are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of progressive experience in safety management within the mining or heavy‑industry sector. Demonstrated success in reducing incident rates and implementing zero‑harm initiatives is essential.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this role is 5,000 – 8,000 SSP per month, complemented by performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a comprehensive retirement plan.
