Job Overview
The Agricultural Data Science Lead will spearhead the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytics solutions that transform raw agricultural data into actionable insights for farmers, traders, and internal stakeholders. Reporting to the Head of Global Data Science, you will collaborate with agronomists, engineers, and IT teams to build predictive models, optimize resource allocation, and support decision‑making across the entire value chain. This position is pivotal in advancing Cargill’s digital agriculture agenda in Tunisia and the broader MENA region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end development of machine‑learning models for yield prediction, pest detection, and climate risk assessment.
- Integrate heterogeneous data sources including satellite imagery, IoT sensor streams, weather forecasts, and farm management systems.
- Collaborate with agronomy experts to translate domain knowledge into feature engineering strategies.
- Design and maintain scalable data pipelines on cloud platforms ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
- Present analytical findings to senior leadership and external partners, highlighting business impact and ROI.
- Mentor junior data scientists and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies in precision agriculture, AI, and big data, recommending strategic investments.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python or R, with extensive experience in libraries such as scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Strong background in statistical modeling, time‑series analysis, and geospatial analytics.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) and remote sensing data processing.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Project management capabilities and ability to work in cross‑functional, multicultural teams.
Education
